I love acronyms! Maybe it’s because our family is full of military folks so I’ve been around them the majority of my life, or maybe it’s because I’m getting older and it’s the only way I can remember most things these days. Whatever the reason, I enjoy acronyms, especially in recovery and healing.

Today’s acronym is a great reminder to take a moment to breathe before jumping into something in the heat of the moment. Especially if you’re in an argument, anxiety, or a trigger.

Stepping back gives us time to ground ourselves. It allows us time to reflect on a situation and make changes, if necessary.

You can use that time to step out of an addiction cycle, a negative thought pattern, an escalating conversation, an uncomfortable situation, a moment of anxiety, or a situation that requires you to mentally slow things time and refocus your energy in a calm, peaceful environment.

What can you put on PAUSE?
